Mobile Phone Security - Worth Knowing & Worth Doing!

I came across this piece of valuable information some time ago, and now I am sharing it with you. Here is something worth knowing and worth doing, if you have a mobile phone.

Have you ever wondered why phone companies in general do not seem interested in trying to prevent the theft of mobile phones?

If you have ever lost or had one stolen, and if you are on a plan, you still have to pay the plan approximately up to 12 or 24 months (depending on what plan you have naturally - if any...) and you have to buy another handset and enter into another contract. Well, you bying a new phone over and over again, means more revenue for the phone companies.

Despair No More!
There is a simple way of making lost or stolen mobiles useless to thieves. The phone companies know about it, but they have kept it quiet!

Mobile Phone Serial Number
To check your mobile phone's serial number, key in the following on your phone:

'star-hash-zero-six-hash' or (*#06#)

and a fifteen digit code (15 digit code) will appear on the screen.

Be Adviced
This code is unique to your handset. So write it down and keep it safe!

Should you lose your phone or if it gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset, so even if the thief changes the SIM-card, your phone will be totally useless.

Worth Doing
You will probably not get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever found or stole it, cannot use or sell it either.

If everybody knew about and did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile phones.
